About us

প্রিয় means beloved, dear, the one you choose.

An agent you actually want to see. That is not decoration — in a market where the barrier is trust rather than technology, the relationship is the product. So we named the company after it.

Bangladesh has roughly 4.5 million small shops. Around two out of three of them still cannot accept a single digital taka.

Not because the technology doesn't exist — bKash, Nagad, Rocket and Bangla QR all exist and work — but because nobody has walked down that lane, sat on that plastic stool, explained it in the shopkeeper's language, and stayed long enough to be trusted.

Priyo Agent is that walk. We are a human, ground-level network that brings mobile financial services to the shops the system has skipped. And because we are already in those lanes every day, we use the same network to carry education, food and relief to the families who live above and behind those shops.

The distribution channel and the social channel are the same channel. That is our whole idea.

What we believe

Four pillars.

01

Proximity

Local by design, not local by campaign. The agent lives in the lane.

02

Patience

Activation over acquisition. A signature is not a merchant.

03

Dignity

The smallest shop gets the same seriousness as the largest.

04

Dual purpose

The same network carries money and carries help. That is not a bolt-on.

How we talk

Plain Bangla first. Concrete, never corporate.

We say

“A shop.” “The money lands the same day.” “Her daughter's school fees.”

We don't say

“Merchant touchpoint.” “Settlement window.” “Financial inclusion outcomes.”

If a shopkeeper wouldn't use the word, we don't either — including on this website, and including in a deck for a bank.

A vendor sitting among mounds of onions, garlic, ginger and green chillies at a busy village market in Bangladesh.

Hold us to these

Our five-year measures of success.

Deliberately none of them is “merchants onboarded”. That number is easy to move and tells you nothing.

  1. 01

Shops taken from zero digital acceptance to live weekly transactions.

  2. 02

The merchant-payment share of MFS value moving off 5%.

  3. 03

Shopkeepers who got a first-ever formal loan on a record we helped create.

  4. 04

Women as a share of both our agents and the shopkeepers we onboard.

  5. 05

Families reached with education, food and relief through the same network.

Straight talk

What we are not.

  • Not a wallet. We don't hold anyone's money or issue an e-money product. We connect shops to the regulated providers who do.
  • Not affiliated with bKash. bKash uses “Priyo Agent” for a customer's designated favourite cash-out agent. We are a separate organisation, and not endorsed by bKash, Nagad, Rocket, Upay or Bangladesh Bank.
  • Not a charity with a business attached, or the reverse. The social work and the commercial work share one network on purpose, and we'll defend that choice rather than tidy it away.
  • Not sitting on a track record yet. Priyo Agent is early. The numbers on this site are about the market, not about our results — and we've labelled them that way.
Every shop we bring onto the rails becomes a creditworthy business with a history. That is the difference between a merchant account and a livelihood.

About us

Come and check.

We would rather be argued with than admired. If you think we have the market wrong, or you want to help us prove we have it right, get in touch.
